A solid downtown contributes to the overall economic strength of the entire community. Therefore, a thriving downtown is the heart of any city's character. As the primary stakeholder, the downtown community must have a unified focus and voice to enhance its investment and maintain its position.

Streetscapes Co., the Lloydminster Downtown Business Improvement District (BID), is an organization formed by the downtown business community in cooperation with the City of Lloydminster.  It provides a forum for the exchange of ideas and engages in community programs and activities that work to secure a solid future for the downtown area, which in effect, enhances the overall appeal of the city.

The positive atmosphere that results from community based projects and programs focusing on the downtown as a neighborhood meeting place and activity center, extends to the general business appeal of the area. Downtown Lloydminster has solidified in recent years, becoming the financial and professional core of the city along with attracting a variety of specialized products and services. Vacancy rates have continued to decrease as more businesses recognize that downtown is a good place to be.

The BID through its board and management facilitates continued growth and vitality of the downtown area by providing a cohesive, full-time voice for its economic development. Through various programs and innovative partnerships, the BID has made significant progress in the revitalization of downtown Lloydminster. These strategic partnerships have evolved from a social importance of this area of the city. Interested civic groups, landowners, business owners, City Hall, and the general public are becoming more cooperatively involved in the decision-making process.

All BID businesses and property owners have voting privileges. Stakeholders located in the BID are encouraged to become involved in its various projects, which range from beautification and infrastructure initiatives to marketing promotions and special events. There are several membership meetings held during the year. These meetings allow members of the downtown community to periodically discuss specific issues of importance to the downtown.
